Scary Stories!

Greetings Grizzlies! Students are working around the clock to finish their scary stories! Students will be presenting their story on Monday, October 30th and Tuesday, October 31st. We can't wait to hear all the incredible tales of terror! Please remember that ROUGH DRAFTS are due Friday for students, and that they have to be ready to self and peer edit! Next month, we will switch gears to Non-Fiction and work on compare and contrast as well as using explanatory language. What a great month it's been! Here are our l esson plans! Have a great week! Sincerely, Mrs. Hines

Week of 10/16-10/20

Hi Grizzlies! Thanks so much to those of you that came last week for conferences! Here is a look at what we are doing this week in 6th grade ELD class! We do have homework due this Friday, which is reading an article from www.newsela.com and responding on Google Classroom! This week we are starting our scary story writing unit! This is a great way for kids to use their knowledge of fiction and plot and apply it to a story! We will read the stores on October 30th and 31st. Hope everyone is having a great week! Sincerely, Mrs. Hines

Hi Grizzlies! Thank you so much for being awesome supporters to our school and students! It is finally starting to feel like FALL! A couple grading notes.....the grades for personal narratives are in Gradebook for most of the classes now, and I want to explain why there are FIVE separate grades. Our rubric had five different areas of focus for student work, so each one is noted in Gradebook individually. Here is the RUBRIC . We also have an upcoming QUIZ on Thursday over elements of fiction and annotating fiction. Looking forward to seeing ya'll at parent conferences next week! Here are our LESSON PLANS for each day. Thanks and have a GREAT WEEK! Sincerely, Mrs. Hines
